President Muhammadu Buhari has assured citizens that his is on top of events and is moving ahead with force to crush the perpetrators of the recent incidents of unrest in Plateau state.
Buhari gave the pledge in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in Abuja.
He however, upheld that to achieve success, communities must unite against these horrific attacks, saying retributive violence was not the answer.
The President also tasked religious, traditional and other community leaders on the need to preach peace and not to allow the use of their spaces for the propagation of violence and incitement to violence. According to him, the troubled areas in Plateau are being reinforced with security personnel to protect lives and property in the state.
Buhari noted that there is the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorism, as well as the spate of kidnappings for ransom, transformed by some misinformed global media into a Muslim-on-Christian threat.
