The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice,
Abubakar Malami says Nigeria lost four-hundred billion dollars looted
funds to foreign havens.
Malami, who made this known this in Abuja at the 8th session
of the
Conference of States Parties to the United
Nations, UN Convention
Against Corruption in the United Arab Emirate,
UAE, said the funds
were stolen and expatriated by corrupt leaders
and their foreign
accomplices including multinational companies.
The Minister, in an issued statement by his spokesman, Umar
Gwandu
told the session that the government had taken
strong measures to
address the challenge to ensure that Nigerian
financial institutions
and banks were not used as channels for these
illegal transactions.
