The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to ending humanitarian crisis and resettlement of Internal Displace Persons, IDPs back to their ancestral homes.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq gave the assurance when the UN Under-Secretary for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Coordinator Martin Griffiths and his team visited her.
She restated that her Ministry is doing its best to deliver on its mandate both locally and international coordination of humanitarian crisis concerning the country. According to her, even though the challenges are enormous, the Nigerian Government is committed to addressing the issues.
Speaking earlier, Griffiths said his team just came back from a two-day visit to Maiduguri, where they met some of the displaced persons and pleased to partner with the ministry in the effort to meet the needs of these people.
