The Federal Government has suspended seven senior officers and one junior personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service over the electrocution of five inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The suspension was approved by the Board of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service under the Federal Ministry of Interior, the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Jaafaru Ahmed, announced on today.
A statement signed on behalf of the Controller General by Francis Enobore, noted that the affected officers were placed on suspension to allow unfettered investigation into the matter.
Enobore who is the spokesman of the service said the suspension was contained in a document signed by the Secretary of the Board, Hassan Yakmut.
