Pressure is mounting at COP26 in Glasgow as negotiators from nearly 200 governments try to strike a deal on how we tackle climate change After all-night talks behind closed doors, a new draft agreement has just been released.


It waters down language on phasing out coal and fossil fuels but
strengthens calls for nations to toughen climate targets next year
The summit is seen as a key moment in efforts to limit temperature rises
and avoid the worst impacts of global warming.


The UK, which is hosting the summit, wants an agreement that will put
the world on track to keep warming under 1.5C by 2100.


But the latest proposals still won’t get us there, experts say
Disputes over money are front and centre of discussions, with
developing nations calling for the rich world to bear the costs of climate
change.
