The Director General, Nigerian Conservation Foundation, Muhtari Aminu-Kano has urged the Federal Government to effectively intervene on disaster risk reduction across the country.

Aminu-Kano made the call at a two-day workshop organised by the organisation in collaboration with the Network of Civil Society Organisations for Lake-Chad Basin and the Humanitarian Forum in Abuja.

He said that the organisations were holding the Federal Government responsible, in tackling disaster risk reduction as the government was the major key body to address the challenge appropriately.

The Director General explained that the organistaion was collaborating with other organisations both national and international to support the government in ensuring that the challenge was tackled.

The President, Humanitarian Forum, UK Hany El-Banna said that the workshop was committed to accelerate the reduction of disaster and climate-related risk.
