
Nigeria’s Rivers United football club on Sunday completed a double win over Young Africans of Tanzania, to earn a place in the first round of the CAF Champions’ League.
United thrashed the visiting team 1-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Technical Adviser of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, after the CAF Champions 2nd leg preliminary round tie game, admitted that it was a hard earned victory and also commended his players for the good effort they put in the game and also thanked God that the team was able to secure victory.
The Rivers United technical adviser stated that some of his key players were missing from the game because of the antics of their opponents.
In same vein, Akwa United of Uyo have been eliminated from the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League.
It was a sad day for Nigeria’s representatives Akwa United as the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL champions were eliminated by Algeria’s Ligue 1 champions CR Belouizdad.
They failed to build on their preliminary round first-leg advantage as they conceded two late goals in Algeria late on Sunday.
