President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Gambo Gumel Aliyu as the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS.
The Permanent Secretary, General Services at the Office of the Secretary to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olusegun Adekunle, in a statement said the appointment was with effect from June 26, for an initial term of four years.
Aliyu’s appointment comes immediately after the resignation on Tuesday of Sani Aliyu as the Agency’s DG.
The new helmsman is a public health physician with a background in HIV Epidemiology and Disease Prevention.
Aliyu was a consultant in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Cambridge University, United Kingdom, since 2106 until his recent appointment.
