The Nigeria Immigration Service on Thursday in Abuja, inaugurated a Personnel Training Resource Centre to combat illegal migration.

The service also launched the training curriculum for its personnel to serve as a guide for the officers.

Performing the ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Controller-General of the Service, Muhammad Babandede said that the centre was aimed at registering non-citizens who were staying in the country for more than 90 days.

Babandede noted that the centre was co-funded with the support of donors headed by the International Organisation for Migration IOM.

These, he said include the Government of the Netherlands, the Government of Switzerland, Federal Foreign Office of Germany and GIZ German Corporation for International Cooperation, a development partner.

He said that the effort was also in line with immigration’s regulation which made it mandatory for non-Nigerians to register when they come into the country.
