The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has arrested one Osagie Robert, for importing drugged chocolates and cookies from Canada to sell in Edo State. It added that a fake security agent, Godwin Ilevbare, also known as Edwin Agbon was also arrested for the same crime.
Spokesman of NDLEA Femi Babafemi, in a statement said the amn popularly called Old Soldier was arrested in Oredo area of the state for dealing in Cannabis. He also explained that Godwin was nabbed during a controlled delivery of a consignment shipped into the country through a courier company.
Babafemi stated that the consignment, which emanated from Canada, contains the Colorado brand of Cannabis concealed inside chocolates and cookies weighing 6.491kilograms, while the drug cookies and chocolates weighed 5.566 kilograms.
Also, NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the officers and men of Edo, Enugu Airport, Niger, Ogun, Kwara, Plateau, Rivers, Ondo, Benue and Delta Commands. He also applauded those of the Directorate of Operation and General Investigations for beginning the New Year with a strong message to drug cartels that the Agency will not relent in its efforts against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria.
