The Federal Government has ordered officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, to shoot dead anyone found attempting to attack prison facility across the country.
Stressing that a correctional facility is a red zone and anyone who
attempts to attack it should pay the price and not get kid gloves
treatment that would enable them to tell the story later.
Interior Minister Aregbesola gave the directive while addressing senior
officers at the Agodi Custodial Centre of the NCoS in Ibadan, the Oyo
State capital, during an official inspection of the facility.
The minister assured the officers that the Federal Government would
prioritise their welfare to ensure effective service delivery.
Aregbesola also ordered the demolition of shops and business centres
within and around the prison facility.
