Palestinian President Calls For Iraq’s Stability End Of Tension Through Dialogue

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that Palestine supports the security and stability of Iraq and called on Iraqi political parties to prioritise dialogue.

Four rockets were fired on the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad overnight and in the morning after Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr resigned from politics.

The situation sparked protests by his supporters, in which up to 22 people were killed and more than 200 were injured, according to the Iraqi military.

Abbas stressed that Palestine’s leadership and people “stand by Iraq’s president, government and people.

He added there is a strong fraternal and historical relationship between Palestine and Iraq.”
