Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation NDIC has called on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN to incorporate courses on Deposit Insurance System DIS in its educational programme.
A statement by Director, Communication and Public Affairs Department of NDIC, Bashir Nuhu, said this in Abuja.
Nuhu said the Managing Director of the corporation, Bello Hassan, made the call when the Governing Council of ICAN led by its President, Innocent Okwosa, visited him.
Hassan said including DIS courses into ICAN’s training programmes would enhance the understanding, not only within the banking sector but also among professional accountants.
He described the move as critical toward bridging the knowledge gap on the mandate and achievements of DIS, its critical role in protecting depositors and contributions to financial system stability.
