The Nigerian Correctional Service has yet to release the names and pictures of fleeing inmates, four days after armed men breached the Abolongo Custodial Centre, Oyo State and released over 900 inmates.

Sources said that 463 inmates have been recaptured on Monday while more than 300 are still at large.

But the NCoS spokesman, Francis Enobore, said the pictures and names of the inmates would be released soon, adding that the service was still sorting out the names of those who escaped and those re-arrested.

Also, the Public Relations Officer of NCoS, Oyo State Command, Lanre Anjonrin, confirmed the return of more inmates to the media in Ibadan on Monday.

Meanwhile, security experts have attributed the frequent attacks and breaches of custodial facilities across the country to lack of synergy between the NCoS and the Nigeria Police.

The experts also noted that the correctional officers were poorly trained and ill-motivated, adding that the NCoS does not have the wherewithal to effectively protect custodial centres against armed attacks.
