The Federal Government has ordered contractors handling the Kaduna-Kano rail line to review construction materials against vandalization.
The Minister of Transport, Saidu Alkali gave the directive while inspecting the level of work on the project site in Makarfi Local Government area of Kaduna state and also ordered the contractors to use anti-theft clips to hold the rail track.
He said although the project has security challenges, but the government will collaborate with security to ensure the project is delivered to Nigerians in the shortest possible time.
Earlier, the project coordinator of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, Mark Zoe explained that the project has reached 22.6 per cent level of completion. He however lamented security challenge in the area and called for collaboration with the military.
The coordinator added that last two months, two of their staff were kidnapped along Tashar Yari in Makarfi Local Government area of Kaduna state.
