The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has been advised to probe the circumstances that led to politicians getting results sheets before the commencement of voting in the Saturday Kogi State governorship election.
Forum for the Advancement of Development and Democracy, FAAD Oruma Musa, made the call, while addressing a press conference in Lokoja, the state capital. He also charged INEC to condemn the pre-filling of result sheets and start a transparent process that gives confidence that the electoral body is serious against electoral offenders.
Musa, who applauded the electoral umpire under the leadership of Yakub Mahmood and the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gabriel Longpet, for their fairness in ensuring a transparent electioneering process. He also observed that the state’s REC refused to allow external interventions in its affairs and disallowed some compromised electoral officers free environment to do their usual four-yearly cycle of business to the highest bidder.
