The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has pledged that the lower chamber will facilitate the establishment of a military base in Zaria, Kaduna State, to assist in curbing the spate of banditry in the area.
This is coming following the recent resurgence of attacks in Zaria and surrounding communities which has led to many deaths.
Abbas, while speaking during a condolence visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Nuhu Bamali, over the recent Mosque collapse which claimed ten lives, assured that the Federal Government will do everything within its powers to ensure that bandits are flushed out from Zaria and other neighbouring communities.
The Speaker also said the 10th National Assembly is implementing measures to prevent the resurgence of banditry and other security concerns in the North-West zone and other parts of the country.
The Emir of Zazzau, in his response, appreciated the Speaker for the visit, saying the people of the Emirate were thrown into grief due to the collapsed mosque and the bandits’ attack.
