National Coordinator, National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa rtd, says kidnapping for ransom has become a means for terrorists to fund their activities.

He made this known on Wednesday during an Anti-Kidnap Multi-Agency Fusion Cell Media and Communication Workshop, organised by ONSA in collaboration with the British High Commission.

The spokesman of the Department of State Service, Peter Afunanya, blamed kidnapping on political, economic and ideological factors.

Afunanya said the DSS had established a special unit to tackle kidnapping.
