Industrial Action: Student Union Begs Atiku, Tinubu, Others To Raise Funds For ASUU Demands

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has pleaded with the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other presidential candidates to raise funds in order to meet the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU currently on strike.

Chairman of NANS Ogun State Joint Campus Committee, JCC Kehinde Damilola Simeon, who made the call in a statement in Abeokuta, Ogun State, said the appeal to prominent personality to help ASUU became necessary following failure of Federal Government to grant the lecturers demands.

It also noted that all the presidential aspirants, especially those from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP should rise up and come to the rescue of Nigerian Students.

Meanwhile, protesting students of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, were dispersed by soldiers. It was however learnt that the soldiers stormed the barricade of the protesting students along the Ife-Ibadan express road, and sent them away from the barricade.

Also, Chairman, of the National Association of University Students, NAUS Eruobami Ayobami, said the soldiers escorting a prominent personality from Ibadan stopped at the Ipetumodu roundabout close to Oduduwa University and attacked the protesters. He said the soldiers forcefully dismantled the barricade.
