The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq has sought for Spanish Government support for victims of humanitarian crisis and girl-child education in Nigeria.

The Minister made the plea when the former Vice President of Spain, Maria Teresa Fernandez De La Vega, paid a courtesy visit to her in Abuja.

Vega is also the current President of the State Council of Spain, a body that provides consultative services on economy, social development and foreign policy to the government and monarch of Spain.

She is also the Founder and President of Women for Africa Foundation that runs programmes for women on education, health, economic, agriculture, sustainable energy and entrepreneurship in Liberia, Malawi, Senegal and Morocco.

The Minister, who was enthusiastic, said the vision of the ministry was to have social protection systems that are pro-active, humane, inclusive and sustainable for the improvement and general welfare of the people.

Speaking earlier, Vega said she was at the ministry to present some of her projects which are on women, and launch some of them in Nigeria. She expressed readiness to collaborate and support the Ministry in its activities.
