Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad Ladies has announced the signing of Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City Women.

The 25-year-old was one of the Nigerian players on the spotlights for their impressive performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She played all matches for the Falcons and helped Nigeria reach the round of 16.

Reacting to the announcement video released on Tuesday by Al-Ittihad Ladies on X, formerly twitter, the Nigerian talent wrote, Grateful to have signed for Al-Ittihad and Excited to start this journey alongside some incredible human beings.

The Super Falcons defender told the club’s media in the announcement video, that Football is about connecting not only with herself but with people around her, either with her teammates or staff.

Plumptre made 79 appearances for Leicester Women before her departure from the club at the end of last season.
