The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq has advocated for effective collaboration among relevant stakeholders to address drug abuse and its devastating consequences.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq has advocated for effective collaboration among relevant stakeholders to address drug abuse and its devastating consequences.

Sadiya, who was represented by Acting Director, Department of Social Development in the ministry, Mansur Kuliya, made the call at the Awareness Campaign against Drug and Substances Abuse and Illicit trafficking in Abuja, with the theme “Share Facts on Drugs, Save Lives’’, is organised by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

She added that the Ministry had the mandate to develop humanitarian policies and provide effective coordination of national and international intervention.

The Ministers also stressed that parents, guardians, village heads, government, Non-Governmental Organisation and Civil Society Organisations have a role in preventing our children from addiction and drug abuse.

Also speaking, the Director-General, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP Fatima Waziri-Azi said Human and drug trafficking are organised crimes.
